San Diego Weekends

We so appreciate the generous spirit of our dear friends, the Fulop's.  We crossed over the border early Saturday afternoon and were wisked away to Mount Soledad, a high pinnacle that gives a 360 degree view of the surrounding area.  Then we traveled down to the beach at La Jolla, taking in the ocean breezes before heading off to Henry's Farmers Market for a few groceries and then to their home for a delicious home cooked meal.  We enjoy the time spent with their children too, and appreciate them sharing their hugs, bed & tangerines!

This week Fred should finish with the last session of radiation on Wednesday.  He commented today how he noticed the way it takes him down a notch and is thankful that he only gets 10% of a typical dosage.  Still not having any hair loss or nausea, and here's the really great news....Dr said today that it's at least 90% dissolved, we can hardly see it!

I took the picture above at the Fulop's last Sunday looking out over the valley below their home.  We are so awed my the mighty hand of God as we see the beauty of His creation.  Then we think of His care for us and praise Him for the healing He has brought about in Fred's body!  Indeed we are fearfully and wonderfully made!

Thanking each one for your continued prayers as he finishes the radiation this week and await the results from the scan/tests the Dr. will do to determine where we go from here.

  1. Fred and Brenda,
I was so happy to read your notes this morning and really happy that you had a nice weekend with the Fulop's - is that Dennis and his wife?
I met Dennis years ago in Hungary in 1983 when he was of course very young! All of his family were so very nice and I went to Church with them and many others in the little village of Dunavesce. After my brain tumor surgery in Oct 2004 we went to CA in Jan 2005 and spent time in the San Diego area - we drove up along the coast to La Jolla - it is beautiful scenery along there. I didn't have any addresses of the Hungarians out there so I wasn't able to make contact with any of them. We are very thankful for both of you to read the good news and hope pray that progress and God's healing hand continues. It's still very cold here - but no wind this am - I think I'm reading some good news that you might be coming home this weekend - wonderful! We look forward to seeing you again! May God continue to hold you in His care,
    Love, Carol and Jerry

  2. Thanks for your posts Carol! We would love to be coming home this weekend, but at this time our departure hasn't been scheduled. Sounds like we should stay a little longer anyway on account of the weather back home! =D

  7. Greetings of love! I sure enjoyed your update! We're thanking God for answered prayer and rejoice with you! I'm so glad you're able to go to CA on the week-end. We visited with Peggy while in Oakville and she mentioned how they enjoyed your visit. I sure do wish you were coming home this week-end! There's no need for concern about the weather here. You know of a warm, tropical-like, bright place where there's a lot of green things growing ;) God be with you and keep you in His care.

    Lots of Love,
    Your Sis

  11. Dear ones:

We are thankful and rejoicing in the good news about Fred. Our thoughts and prayers continue with you and others at Rubio. The fresh layer of new snow is beautiful. We have our driveway cleaned out, but the wind is to start blowing this afternoon! Hopefully it will be all settled down by Sat. when our group leaves for Mexico!
    Love and prayers,
    Wayne and Nancy
